Matthew Snowdon is an experienced attorney whose practice focuses on construction and surety law and litigation. He has represented contractors, owners, developers and sureties throughout the United States in connection with a wide variety of complex commercial and construction matters involving all types of public and private construction projects including residential subdivisions and public improvements. Matthew is also extremely familiar with claims against Contractors' State License Bonds.
Matthew is experienced in all aspects of civil litigation and routinely assists clients in the preparation and defense of various claims relating to breach of contract, delay, changes and/or extra work, payment, termination, defective plans and specifications, stop notice rights, mechanic's lien rights and defective workmanship. He has also handled numerous payment and performance bond claims and is experienced with pre-litigation dispute resolution, mediation and arbitration.
While in law school, Matthew served on the Board of the Student Bar Association, was a finalist for the Alumni Association Award and was awarded the Dean's Service Award for exceptional contributions to the law school community. He graduated from Loyola Law School in 2006 Cum Laude, Order of the Coif, and earned a place in the St. Thomas More Law Honor Society.
Matthew's professional experience also includes externships with the Learning Rights Project, the Cancer Legal Resource Center, and serving as a judicial extern to the Hon. Edward Rafeedie of the United States District Court, Central District of California.
Prior to law school, Matthew spent time on the A.T.P. (Association of Tennis Professionals) Tour, as well as playing on the NCAA Division I Tennis Team for the University of Iowa. He is also conversant in Spanish.
Prior to joining Watt, Tieder, Hoffar & Fitzgerald, Matthew spent four plus years working as an associate attorney in the litigation department of a real estate, construction and surety firm in Southern California.
