Kirk McCormick focuses his practice on construction litigation, surety law, and government contracts. Since joining WTHF in 2001, Kirk has tried several cases, including acting as first-chair. He has represented clients in state and federal courts, boards of contract appeals, and in numerous arbitrations and mediations.
Kirk has represented sureties, general contractors, subcontractors, owners, architects, and engineers throughout the United States on a wide range of public and private construction projects, including air traffic control towers, bridges, roads, complex underwater and underground tunnels, public archives restoration projects, military bases, office buildings, retail centers, university physical education facilities, courthouses, fire stations, and schools. He has assisted clients with payment bond and performance bond claims, subrogation issues, construction defect claims, commercial general liability coverage issues, mechanic's liens, contract administration and termination, and preparation, submission, and defense of claims concerning such issues as differing site conditions, defective specifications, access restraints, changes, and lost productivity.
Kirk also has extensive experience with federal government contracts, including procurement and contract administration under the FAR, bid protests, default terminations, and False Claims Act defense.
