Brian's practice focuses on construction, government contracts and surety law. Since joining WTHF, Brian has been involved in numerous projects, including:
- Assisting in all phases of a federal bench trial involving complex construction and critical path delay claims arising out of $100 million condominium project
- Representing a state agency in defense of a pending $40 million claim involving road and bridge construction
- Preparing a mediation presentation discussing defective steam turbine generator and complex power output issues, leading to successful settlement of indemnification action on behalf of general contractor's surety
- Reviewing federal agency reports and preparing bid protests under Federal Acquisition Regulations
- Obtaining breach of contract judgment in Virginia Circuit Court action on behalf of national contractor (First Chair)
- Representing a Virginia Paving contractor in favorable settlement of construction claims and supply contract disputes (First Chair)
Before joining WTHF, Brian practiced with a Virginia construction law firm, where he represented owners, developers, contractors and subcontractors in all phases of construction projects, from contract preparation and negotiation through document discovery, depositions, alternative dispute resolution and litigation.
Brian routinely advised clients on lien rights, bond claims and contract performance issues. Brian's prior experience includes assisting in favorable settlement of a $12 million dollar delay claim on behalf of a general contractor, serving as lead trial counsel and obtaining judgment in Virginia Circuit Court on behalf of an owner involved in a construction and commercial lease dispute, defending a national contractor in regulatory proceedings before the Maryland Office of Administrative Hearings, and arguing motions before state and federal courts throughout Northern Virginia.
