Arnie Mason clerked for Watt, Tieder, Hoffar & Fitzgerald as a summer associate in 1999. Following a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Stephen C. St. John of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, Arnie joined WTHF full-time as an associate in 2001. Arnie has been a partner with the firm since 2008.

Arnie primarily represents general contractors, subcontractors, and sureties in all phases of a construction project, including contract formation, contract administration, and the pursuit and/or defense of claims in litigation or other forms of dispute resolution. His experience includes preparation and negotiation of construction contracts and joint venture agreements; preparation, analysis, and prosecution or defense of complex construction claims on domestic and international projects, including tunnels, light rail systems, water treatment plants and hotels; and dispute resolution before a broad range of forums, including federal and state courts, arbitration panels, mediators and dispute review boards. Arnie has significant experience advising clients on federal government construction contracts, as well as state and private projects.

Arnie has also developed expertise in the review and defense of False Claims Act allegations, including counsel in response to investigations by the Department of Justice and other governmental agencies. Arnie also has experience with participation and compliance issues related to the use of Disadvantaged Business Enterprises in government contracts, including the preparation of Mentor-Proté Agreements and general advice on small business contracting opportunities.
